Gravity Movie Review Summary
Due to space debris, Dr. Ryan Stone is separated from Matt Kowalski when she is on a small space repair mission. Now, she must survive alone in space and return to earth.
Gravity Movie Review: (Spoiler-Free)
In the Gravity Movie Review below, you will read about Ryan Stone’s character and how she manages to survive the space and debris and safely reach her homeland. The movie has some good CGI use and the best performance that you will remember long after the movie is over. Sandra Bullock as Ryan Stone is a standout in the movie, which carries the movie on her shoulder till it ends.
In the movie, George Clooney plays a short part as Matt Kowalski, but he serves his purpose. The movie sends the message that the survival in the space is hard and the laws of physics change up there in 0 degree space.
Wide view of space
In the movie’s first scene, you feel how space behaves around the astronauts. When Dr. Ryan Stone and Matt Kowalski are up there in space to upgrade the configuration of Hubble, they seem near to the earth. It feels like outer space is quiet and predictable up to a point. You will feel what characters hear through their space suits and feel the weight of the air on your body. The earth looks vivid and gorgeous to look.
Danger in debris
After the beautiful introduction, gravity comes to play as the debris from space starts hitting the space structure around them. It even kills one of the team members. From that point on, you will understand what gravity can do to you. Dr. Ryan Stone, aka Sandra Bullock, has to get out of the situation and save herself. After a great struggle, she loses one of the team members, George Clooney. After that, she is on her own and cut off from the Houston Mission Control.
During this scene, you will get a sense of how gravity works and how it can be a force to be reckoned with. You will imagine yourself up there and find no way to hide or save yourself from the attack. After that scene, you will have only Dr. Ryan Stone as a leading character in the movie. Now, she is alone, with no one to hold onto or talk to. The mission control is also not with her.
Alone in the space
Now the actual movie begins. Even though they are great, you will observe that this movie is about something other than the visuals, sound, and cinematography. But this movie is all about Dr. Ryan and her survival in space alone without humanity. Ryan loses hope more than once. Her struggles to remember her life on earth and tries to remember her family makes her remember her upbringing moments and how her parents were to her.
After Matt Kowalski’s character drifts into the space, there is only one member of the team left, and that is Dr. Ryan Stone. Now she has to find a way to contact mission control, but she fails several times. You would feel the weight of survival on your shoulder when she is trying hard to put herself in in-charge of the mission. She tries her best to find a way to land on the earth, but without mission control and any additional help, she is stuck and unable to move from her position.
In space, the scary thing is not alien or some other kind of imagination of space fights, but the fear is real when there is no human around you. That’s the fear of loneliness that makes her feels alone and depressed. Dr. Ryan starts to get all kinds of hallucinations about her mission, past, childhood memories, and herself. She feels more down than ever before as the movie progresses.
Hopeful consciousness
All the things in the movie try to say one thing “Without humanity, you cannot survive alone.” You also learn that without hope, there is nothing.
The movie is a severe watch and about your existence. This movie comes down to one thing – Humanity.
Ryan Stone has to survive somehow and use her wits to get out of the situation. She somehow manages to make her way to the Tiangong-1 Chinese Space Station. She then sees that it is also falling apart, and there is nothing she can do about it. But she drags her way to the Chinese module and puts herself in. Now she begins to launch it towards the earth and land at her home. The entire sequence may sound so simple, but it was not. The movie has few words and limited dialogue, but it is about survival. Just like in the Cast Away movie, she has nothing much to say but only does.
Return to home
After putting herself in the Chinese module, she decides to launch herself towards the earth for a safe landing home. If you were there, you would cheer up precisely as she does and gets excited to get home. The sequence gives you all hope that nothing in the world seems small unless you try more challenges to achieve it.
During re-entry into the earth’s atmosphere, you feel how difficult it would be for even the bravest person on the planet to pull off what Ryan Stone’s character did. While she is landing on the earth’s surface, the music makes you all thrilled and excited for her to get to the land and claim her birthright to be on mother earth.
The movie gives you an inspiring story about dedication and dreams that you need to pursue. Believe that you have struggled no matter where you are and what you are doing. This movie will give you a reason to remember some of your hard and hopeless days.
If you do not like space drama or a survival movie about character, then you will be bored in the movie.
Gravity Movie Character Review:
-
Sandra Bullock – Dr. Ryan Stone (10/10):
To all the 35 years old out there, Sandra Bullock is the actor from Speed (1994) (if you remember). We all remember that movie, don’t we? Sandra has worked on many movies and established herself as an actor with a true-to-character portrayal. Bullock is best known for Crash and Heat. She plays the lonely, confused character that is cut off from humanity. In this movie, her performance will gives you a sense of how meaningless life would be without humanity. Not only did she a great job at playing a lonely astronaut, but she evoked the feeling of

George Clooney – Matt Kowalski (9/10):
In the movie, George Clooney wasn’t much, but he acted as a charming American astronaut in space.
Music:
Gravity movie music is noticeable when the situation is tense. After watching the movie, you will feel tingling, and the music will automatically come into your head. If you watched this movie in the theatre, you would feel the music somewhat threatening and evoking the feeling of loneliness. Kudos to Steve Prince!
